Penny Nance
CEO, Concerned Women for America
—Applauded Trump administration ban on transgender soldiers, arguing, “The costly Obama policy on transgender soldiers was based on social engineering, not military readiness. CWA opposes any policy that makes our armed services weaker.”
—Warned parents that LGBTQ activists are trying to “infiltrate schools” so they can “go around you to get to your children.”
—Said of marriage equality: “When the government broadens the definition of marriage beyond its traditional parameters, children, communities, and governments suffer. We are already suffering from a 43 percent out of wedlock birth rate in this nation. Anything that further erodes and diminishes marriage must be avoided for many reasons, not the least of which being the incredible damage wrought on our society.”
—Insisted marriage equality is like “counterfeit money.”
—Claimed that while “the Left have attempted to stake their claim as the only group who represents and cares about women, they have also managed to simultaneously stab these same women in the back, betraying the very essence of their femininity and steamrolling over the uniqueness of the sexes in order to elevate their own agendas,” adding, “Historically, women have fought to defend and protect their position and authority within society. Our spaces and institutions have value and therefore deserve respect and protection from encroachment of the entitled Left. The emperor has no clothes and our pretending otherwise only degrades women.”
—Joined a small group of some of the most extreme, fringe activists to call on parents to keep kids home on the pro-LGBTQ Day of Silence
—Tells legally married gay couples: “We can love you. We can support you as you navigate life. But we cannot—and will not—ever betray our consciences on this or any other matter.”
—Said the Girls Scouts decision to accept transgender girls “slaps in the face to Christian parents.”
—Argued that the Boy Scout’s admittance of gay leaders would “put our young sons at risk”
—Claimed the Trump administration’s removal of protections for trans students was a “sensitive” act, because “it is not bigotry for a mother or a young woman to feel uncomfortable with the government forcing them to share restroom facilities with biological boys.”
—Said of Obama administration support for trans students: “the left always uses children to accomplish its goals of social reengineering.”
—Said that gay youth are “probably troubled kids in a number of ways.”
—Signed on to an effort that seeks God’s “healing for those who struggle with same-sex attraction” and to “replace unnatural affections.”
—Said of marriage equality activists: “Those who persist in forcing their preferred redefinition of marriage on the country by rule of law stand squarely against everything on which this country was founded—most notably against the freedom of religion, which they argue should be suppressed whenever it interferes with their newly discovered constitutional ‘right’ to homosexual ‘marriage.’”
—Joined anti-LGBT press conference claiming gay soldiers threaten the military.
The GLAAD Accountability Project catalogs anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and discriminatory actions of politicians, commentators, organization heads, religious leaders, and legal figures, who have used their platforms, influence and power to spread misinformation and harm LGBTQ people.
