Michael Brown
Head of the Coalition of Conscience
Author of "A Queer Thing Happened To America"
—Decried Drag Queen reading hours at public libraries in his book Jezebel’s War With America: The Plot to Destroy Our Country and What We Can Do to Turn the Tide: “There are some things so wrong that we cannot allow ourselves to get used to them… We must always be outraged over them. Always grieved over them. We can never accept them as the new status quo. The drag-queen assault on our children is one of those things. I’m talking about the celebration of little children in drag. I’m talking about drag queens dancing for our children and reading stories to them. This is unacceptable. This is perverse. This is outrageous. It was bad enough when this happened at Gay Pride parades. It was even worse when it started to happen in our community libraries.”
—Attacked a popular Christian couple for coming out as pro-LGBTQ, writing, “How terribly tragic it is that, in your desire to save gay lives, you will ultimately destroy them.”
—Insists that the Canadian government is “Ready to Raid Your Home and Steal Your Child“: “Soon enough, there’s a knock at your door, and government agents are taking your son—yes, your very own child—and putting him in a new environment where he can live as Jane.”
—Traveled to Peru discouraging the nation’s lawmakers from “normalizing homosexuality.”
—Said marriage for gay couples is of the Devil: “Yes, the battle lines have been drawn, the enemy is taking ground, and many of us hardly realize that the war is on. The devil is moving forward with energy and aggression. What in the world are we doing?”
—Says his anti-gay book is like a modern day version of anti-slavery novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
—Asked: “Are all sexual orientations gifts from God? Zoophilia, or coprophilia, the sexual stimulation by faeces, or bestiality, I mean things that everyone would be repulsed by, or pedophilia. Are those gifts from God? … How do you distinguish which sexual orientation is a gift from God and which is not?”
—Says you “cannot possibly be a practicing homosexual and a follower of Jesus at the same time.” (16:32)
—When asked if acceptance of gays is “the course that nations take just before their final destruction,” answered: “Once you begin to celebrate things that were once shameful, everything has become undone—and yes, the clock is ticking.“ (6:27)
—Asked if “the demon” could be cast out of gays, answered: “Listen, why is it that people can accept demonic influences in other behaviors? Someone’s a heterosexual pornography addict and they get delivered from demons and their [sic] free. Someone’s addicted to drugs, they get delivered from demons, someone’s got a horrific fierce temper, they get deliver from demons and their [sic] free. Why can’t we recognize that this can happen with homosexuality too?”
—Says gay activists aim to throw Christians in jail.
—Defended a Ugandan law that criminalizes homosexuality, warranting life imprisonment.
The GLAAD Accountability Project catalogs anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and discriminatory actions of politicians, commentators, organization heads, religious leaders, and legal figures, who have used their platforms, influence and power to spread misinformation and harm LGBTQ people.
