The GLAAD Media Award nominated series Pinecone & Pony is back for a second season, premiering Friday, February 3rd on Apple TV+. Based on the book “The Princess and the Pony” by New York Times bestselling author Kate Beaton, the series is an animated comedy for kids and families about a young warrior-in-training, Pinecone, and her best friend Pony, whose adventures together teach them how to be brave in the face of adversity, to speak truth to power, and what it truly means to be a hero.
In an exclusive new clip from the episode “Legend of the Harvest Spirit,” Pinecone and Pony teach the townspeople an important lesson about change and tradition.
“Thank you for unearthing the real tale behind the festival,” a villager says to Pinecone.
After learning that putting the Harvest Float in the river was harmful, Pinecone and Pony were on a mission to stop the tradition and find an alternative that didn’t hurt anyone.
When she asks if they’re upset that they now must change the tradition that’s been upheld for generations, someone replies “No way, we’re proud of you two.” Followed by “All those years, we never knew we were harming anyone.”
“Now that we know, we won’t put the Harvest Float in the river anymore,” they finally conclude. Once the people of the town knew how their tradition was harmful, of course they were open to change. Just because something has been done one way for a long time, doesn’t mean it’s the right thing. It just took one person to educate their community to end a cycle of harm.
Now that everyone is aware, “We can make up a new version… an even better one!” Pinecone exclaims.
Season 2 of Pinecone & Pony will premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, February 3rd.
