Spirit Day is right around the corner! On Thursday, October 19th, wear purple to show your support for this anti-bullying movement aimed to inspire LGBTQ youth.
If you’re looking for a way to help explain this occasion to younger kids, we’ve got you covered!
In 2019, GLAAD partnered with Little Bee Books to create a children’s book called Spirit Day.
With illustrations by Joy Yang, the book offers young readers a variety of ways to be a supportive friend to all different kinds of people. Spirit Day reminds kids the importance of kindness, inclusivity, and acceptance.
The book reminds kids of all ages that “no two people are the same” and “everyone should feel safe to be themselves!”
Get your copy of Spirit Day here and don’t forget to wear purple and take the pledge to stand up against all forms of bullying in honor of Spirit Day.
