For Valentine’s Day, GLAAD is spotlighting stories of trans people in loving relationships—whether with peers, birth or chosen family, friends, partners, and people in their lives who show up and support them, including themselves. The news cycle is oversaturated with stories of rejection, discrimination, and violence. While those are real issues facing the community, it’s also important to highlight that love is possible and trans people are worthy.
People within the community are sharing their #TransLoveStories on social media as part of a needed culture shift. GLAAD is amplifying these stories to show trans people in loving relationships and as models for how to show up and support the trans community.
Check out all the #TransLoveStories here.
Happy Valentine’s Day! We’re highlighting trans stories we love. They could be stories about your relationships with others, your community, or yourselves. They could be stories in the media told by trans creators. Share them using #TransLoveStories. https://t.co/rvDHicIq3p pic.twitter.com/Z0KYhNieBc

To be loved by a Leo is to feel witnessed and affirmed, and I return love just as passionately. Love you. @TrevellAnderson #translovestories pic.twitter.com/PcReb1KSma

I always wanted a family but being trans and having a family was always put at opposing ends. But this is my story. My life. Becoming a father has been my greatest gift. And this little girl is my biggest love. Daddy’s girl. Always. #translovestories pic.twitter.com/Mm8V9aLpvq

23 years ago I began my transition knowing that I would be a gay trans man, but not knowing if I would find love. Then I met John. He’d never met a man who was #trans. Didn’t matter – it was pretty much love at first sight. We’ve been together 19 years. #TransLoveStories pic.twitter.com/rr9bcbqzLW

I love that @glaad is featuring #translovestories. I spent most of my life seeing us portrayed in media as perverts, punchlines & predators. Never people. But five years ago Dex and I met and fell in love, well before I began medical transition or found myself. Now we’re engaged! pic.twitter.com/jfr7gRQM5r

What a joy it is to be seen. To be held. To be loved. You ignite me, @TexasIsaiah. #translovestories pic.twitter.com/84CZ9vBCXP

I told my mom I am never breaking up w/ Katharine Norris, & like any good parent, she replied, “But how do you know she won’t break up with you?”
May we all find someone, a love or a friend, who thinks we are a better catch than our mom does. Happy Valentine’s! #translovestories pic.twitter.com/DCcRlsim0M

For me, one form of love as a trans person has included the serious privilege of a good relationship with my brothers. I’m really lucky to have these photos look to when I’m down & brothers that would go to bat and fight tooth &nail for my safety & comfort. #translovestories https://t.co/0CnqtX2v7g pic.twitter.com/Ahw2dUVTlY

I always struggle when posting my own #TransLoveStories because I have a hard time feeling trans enough but this year I’m focusing on how much I love my trans non-binary self and how much I love my partner and how he loves every part of me @glaad pic.twitter.com/aWJxVnAqAc

My greatest joy since transitioning is being a husband and father. My cup runneth over. Happy Valentine’s Day to my greatest loves. #translovestories pic.twitter.com/5497c6u5zn

I am usually a cold hearted cynic on Valentines Day but all of the #translovestories are making me a little misty today. It’s wonderful to see #trans people featured in loving stories not in trauma. This is real life too. Happy Valentines Day from a cis friend. pic.twitter.com/vm1dX7zRvQ
