Dear Valued Partner,
Let us begin by thanking you for the support you provide to GLAAD and to our mission of accelerating acceptance of the LGBTQ community. During this important moment in our country’s history, GLAAD’s work is more important than ever before – and is only possible because of your involvement and generosity.
The New York Times published an article that calls into question the way we are leading the organization and, specifically, the overall financial management and oversight of our resources. The story is a misrepresentation and mischaracterization of our work.
We prioritize the responsible stewardship of our resources with the utmost integrity and transparency. For example, our financial statements are audited annually by an external firm, and for more than a decade, these audits have consistently confirmed our sound financial management. We are proud to hold perfect ratings from Charity Navigator and GuideStar and to be recognized as a top-rated LGBTQ charity by CharityWatch. To further strengthen our financial practices as we continue to grow, we engaged leading audit firm Marc and leading nonprofit financial consulting firm BDO in late Spring 2024 for strategic financial support, including a comprehensive analysis of our expenses. And let us be clear – where we’ve needed to introduce new policies or practices to uphold that stewardship in a way that’s congruent with our growth, we’re doing it – in real time, with conviction, discipline and adherence.
We hope you will continue to stand with us in our fight for equality. We value your partnership and encourage you to contact Donorservices@glaad.org with any questions.
