Apple TV+’s Loot is back and this season, the laughter runs just as deep as the heart. The series follows Molly Novak (Maya Rudolph), a billionaire reinventing her life after a public divorce, as she finds purpose through her charitable foundation and the people who help her rediscover what truly matters.
Communications Associate Yolanda Lenge caught up with Maya Rudolph, Joel Kim Booster, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Ron Funches, revealing that the Loot family is not only built on comedy, but on connection.
For Rudolph, empathy has always been at the heart of Loot’s satire. “I didn’t want Molly to be this out-of-touch billionaire you couldn’t understand,” she said. “I wanted her to be someone you could root for.”
This season also explores Molly’s evolving bond with Nicholas, played by Joel Kim Booster. Joel shared, “This season is about figuring out purpose,” he said. “Who he is outside of Molly, and what he wants beyond their friendship.”
Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, who plays the brilliant and grounded Sofia, described the power of solidarity among the show’s women. “It’s girl power, and what’s wrong with that?” she laughed. “I love seeing us thrive and seeing our characters develop together. It’s really great to see.”
Ron Funches, who brings lovable optimism to Howard, shared how much joy it brings to know Loot resonates with fans. “I love when I go online and I hear so many people talk about how they missed the show,” he said. “If you’re having some rough days, sit down, watch some episodes, and get away from some things.”
Now in its third season, Loot finds its rhythm in joy. “We’re really enjoying it,” Rudolph added. “It’s satisfying to see these relationships now, they support each other, look out for each other, and are invested in each other’s well-being.”
Loot proves that stories grounded in empathy and representation can make us laugh just as much as they make us feel, reminding us that the greatest riches come from connection.
