1.) Out actresses Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat have been cast in Neon’s The Wrong Girls, a new film from queer screenwriter Dylan Meyer (Stewart’s fiancee). The film will follow Stewart and Shawkat who play two codependent best friends that are struggling to get by as a case of mistaken identity unleashes havoc on their already chaotic lives. 2.) Queer nonbinary actor Janelle Monae has been tapped to lead an adaptation of Tanya Smith’s bestselling heist memoir Never Saw Me Coming: How I Outsmarted the FBI and the Entire Banking System—and Pocketed $40 Million. The new film from Universal Pictures will also be produced by Monae, and follows a woman’s white-collar scheme that scams the U.S. banking system out of millions of dollars. Smith was eventually caught by the FBI, although they refused to believe that a Black woman was capable of such a sophisticated crime, according to producers. 3.) A first look has been released of After This Dark, a new film starring queer actor Lee Pace that premiered at Berlinale this week. The film follows a woman named Isabel who is hiking in the mountains when she comes across a musician, Elliott (Pace), in a secluded cave. The two then reconnect at a concert, a passionate affair begins, and then Elliott disappears, and Isabel’s life is thrown into chaos. Stay tuned for more updates on After This Dark!

4.) Queer, the latest film from gay director Luca Guadagnino, received a streaming release date on Max this week! The romantic drama from A24 will debut on March 28th on Max. The film follows a gay American expat, Lee, living in 1950s Mexico City, as he becomes enamored with a new younger man. Don’t miss queer when it hits Max on March 28th, and you can also catch it on HBO on March 29th. Wicked also got a streaming date this week, and will stream exclusively on Peacock on March 21st. The film stars Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and features a number of other queer actors in the cast, including Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, and Bowen Yang as Pfannee. 5.) HBO provided a long-awaited update on when season two of the hit post-apocalyptic video game adaptation The Last of Us will premiere. The second season will debut on April 13th at 9pm on HBO and will be streaming on Max simultaneously. HBO also released new posters for main cast Ellie, Joel, and Abby. The Last of Us follows teen Ellie (nonbinary actor Bella Ramsey) and adult Joel as they travel across a country ravaged by fungal zombies in hopes of finding a cure, but that cure is Ellie herself. Season two adds Dina, a love interest of Ellie’s, and will explore the pair’s relationship. Be sure to tune into The Last of Us on April 13th at 9pm on HBO or Max!

6.) Upcoming Hulu show Mid-Century Modern, starring out gay actors Nathan Lane, Matthew Bomer, and Nathan Lee Graham, will drop all ten episodes of its first season on March 28! The show, from by Will and Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, follows three gay best friends who decide to live together in Palm Springs after an unexpected death. Catch the first season of Mid-Century Modern on Hulu on March 28!

7.) Saturday Night Live announced this week that queer singer, actress, and all-around icon Lady Gaga will both host the show and perform as the musical guest on March 8. This will be the second time Gaga has hosted and been the musical guest, debuting on the show in 2013. Gaga will host just a day after her seventh studio album, Mayhem, drops. 8.) Season two of Peacock’s hit show Poker Face added a number of additional stars this week, including transgender actress Patti Harrison in a role that is currently undisclosed. Harrison joins other queer actors Sherry Cola, Cynthia Erivo. The “mystery-of-the-week” series follows Charlie (Natasha Lyonne), who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road in her Plymouth Barracuda and with every stop encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve. Stay tuned for more news on Poker Face!

9.) BBC’s smash thriller hit Vigil was renewed for a third season this week and will see main characters Amy and Kristen head to a research station in the Arctic where a member of British special forces has been killed. The pair will need to catch the killer and diffuse a possible international incident with both their careers and their relationship on the line. Amy and Kristen began their relationship in season one of the show, and we can’t wait to see where it goes moving forward. Stay tuned for more news on Vigil!

10.) Canadian ghost hunting show Ghosting with Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan released a new trailer this week. Hosts Hutchie and Finlan, both gay, take celebrity guests to a variety of haunted locations around Canada to answer the age old question: “Are ghosts real?” This season’s queer guests include Canada’s Drag Race season one winner Queen Priyanka and Ginny & Georgia’s Humberly Gonzalez. 11.) In music news this week, queer artist Anna Shoemaker released her sophomore album, Someone Should Stop Her, today! Queer artist Madame Gandhi dropped a new single titled “Pisces Knockout” today, and KiNG MALA released “Fun!”, the second single off her debut album. Queer artist Durand Bernarr released a music video for his newest single “Overqualified,” and also announced a 32-city tour this week following the release of his third album Bloom. Queer artist Joveth also released a new single today titled “Money Can’t Buy Happiness.”
12.) In more Cynthia Erivo news, the Wicked star has been tapped to host this year’s Tony Awards in June! This will be the first time hosting for the Tony Award winner, who won for her starring role in the 2015 revival of The Color Purple. The Tony Awards will air on Sunday, June 8th on CBS. Erivo has also been cast as the title role in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. Performances will only run from August 1st through the 3rd, so be sure to get your tickets early!

13.) Hulu announced the premiere date of gay comedian Matteo Lane’s upcoming special The Al Dente Special this week. You can catch the hour long comedy performance on May 16. This is Lane’s first special from a major service, although he has previously self-taped and released specials including Hair Plugs & Heartache and The Advice Special. Be sure to check out The Al Dente Special when it drops on Hulu on May 16!
