1.) Luca Guadagnino’s highly-anticipated period romantic drama Queer is now in theaters! Based on William S. Burroughs’ semi-autobiographical novel, the pic is set in 1950s Mexico City, following Lee (Daniel Craig), an outcast American expat who becomes infatuated with a young student, Eugene (Drew Starkey). Find the trailer below and catch Queer at a theater near you!
2.) Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical Moana 2 hit theaters! The sequel reunites Moana (bisexual actress Auli’i Cravalho) and Maui (Dwayne Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. The film features music by Grammy Award-winning music group Barlow & Bear, which includes bisexual artist Abigail Barlow. Don’t miss Moana 2 in theaters today!
3.) Focus Features acquired the worldwide rights to Girls Like Girls, marking the feature directing and screenwriting debut of queer icon Hayley Kiyoko! Based on Kiyoko’s breakthrough hit song and viral music video, the coming-of-age film tells the universal story of falling in love for the first time and learning to accept yourself along the way. 4.) Bleeker Street and ShivHans Pictures have debuted the first-look images of The Wedding Banquet, their remake of Ang Lee’s classic rom-com, starring out actors Lily Gladstone, Bowen Yang and Kelly Marie Tran. The original film followed Wai-Tung, a gay Taiwanese-American, who agrees to marry Wei-Wei, an artist in need of a green card, to please his traditional parents. The 2025 reimagining hails from Fire Island filmmaker Andrew Ahn, who penned the script with the original’s co-writer and producer, James Schamus. Check out the first five pictures below!

5.) Scream 7 added nonbinary Ghostbusters star Celeste O’Connor to its cast! Though details about O’Connor’s role remain under wraps, they are joining Neve Campbell and Isabel May, who has been tapped to play the daughter of Campbell’s final girl Sidney Prescott. In more film news, Paramount’s Republic Pictures label acquired worldwide rights to horror The Monster, starring queer actress Mia Healey alongside Djimon Hounsou. The pic follows two millennials who lease New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they’re being scammed. The con works brilliantly until the pair run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them.

6.) Disney+ released the official trailer for the eagerly awaited Doctor Who Christmas Special, premiering December 25! Starring Ncuti Gatwa as the first queer Doctor, Joy of the World follows the title character, Joy (Nicola Coughlan), as she checks into a London hotel in 2024 and opens a secret doorway—discovering danger, dinosaurs and the Doctor. But a deadly plan is unfolding across the Earth, just in time for Christmas. Check out the trailer below and don’t miss Joy to the World on Christmas day!
7.) Ahead of The Traitors season three premiere, Peacock shared first-look video alongside official cast portraits of all 21 new contestants, including out competitors Bob the Drag Queen, Chrishell Stause, Gabby Windey, Bob Harper, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Carolyn Wiger, and returning host Alan Cumming. 8.) MTV shared a teaser and revealed the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17! Ringing in the new year on January 3, 14 new queens will compete for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar” and a cash prize of $200,000. The season will bring back the “Rate-A-Queen” scoring system with an all new twist—meet the queens as they make a splash below!
9.) Netflix unveiled the official trailer for Harlan Coben’s latest series Missing You, featuring gay actor Richard Amitage and trans actress Mary Malone. The show follows Kat Donovan, a detective specializing in Missing Persons, whose fiance vanished without a trace eleven years ago. Now, swiping through profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again. Watch the trailer below and stream Missing You on New Year’s Day!
10.) The first teaser for the upcoming season of Gangs of London has arrived, featuring gay character Billy Wallace. In the third season of the drama series, fan-favorite characters collide with new faces—including recently cast lesbian actress T’Nia Miller—after a spiked shipment of cocaine kills hundreds in London. 11.) Global pop star Kesha kicked off the holiday season with the new single “Delusional!” In more music news, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club released a music video and single of Grammy Award nominee Adam Lambert singing “I Don’t Care Much;” watch the video below! Additionally, queer indie-pop artist Anna Shoemaker dropped her latest track “Iced Coffee;” pre-order her upcoming album Someone Should Stop Her, set to release February 21.
12.) Gay Emmy and Tony winner Billy Porter is starring in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club as Emcee, alongside Marisha Wallace as Sally Bowles, at London’s Playhouse Theatre from January 28 through May 24, 2025! In the meantime, don’t miss the production’s Broadway transfer, currently starring out actors Adam Lambert and Auli’i Cravalho at the August Wilson Theatre through March 29, 2025. In more Broadway news, gay actor T.R. Knight is starring in the upcoming production of Stranger Things: The First Shadow. Knight will play Victor Creel.
