In the wake of Donald Trump‘s shocking and overwhelming victory in the 2024 Presidential Race, politicians, political commentators, and citizens nationwide are chiming in on how they feel their party has failed them, and how they think Democrats should have acted differently amid this historic election season.
Unfortunately, some with platforms are trying to blame the loss on trans people and enforcing anti-LGBTQ rhetoric.
To offer his take, in a segment titled “Seth Gives a Long Complicated Reply to a Thorny Political Question,” Late Night host Seth Meyers refutes these claims, and stands up for the transgender community.

Meyers begins by proclaiming, “Anyone suggesting Democrats could win elections by throwing trans people under the bus, let me just say; f*** off!”
“If you’re choosing this moment to scapegoat and demonize vulnerable people, rather than aim your criticism at the powerful elites and moneyed interests who paved the way for the return of Trump and stand to benefit from his second term, you’re way off.”
He continues to say, “Instead of blaming marginalized people, maybe look inward, take some accountability.”
In classic Late Night fashion, Meyers jokes that “This is like the Jets saying they keep losing because there’s one guy sitting all the way up in the upper deck who’s distracting them.”
When they’re not busy blaming wokeness, they’re throwing trans people under the bus,” Meyers says about elected officials spewing anti-trans rhetoric.
