Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.
1.) The documentary Will & Harper, following Will Ferrell and his longtime friend and former Saturday Night Live writer Harper Steele, is out today! Two years ago, Will received an email from Harper, his dear friend of nearly thirty years, coming out to him as a trans woman. In this intimate, honest, and heartfelt documentary, Will and Harper hit the open road to process this new stage of their friendship and reintroduce Steele to the country that she loves—this time, as herself. 2.) Sunrise films dropped the trailer and set a release date for upcoming queer teen romance Bonus Track from queer filmmaker Julia Jackman. The film, set in England in 2006, follows two teen boys, George and Max. George wants to be a pop star, and Max is the son of a famous musical duo, and when the two start making music together in anticipation of the year end talent show, their friendship evolves in ways neither of them expected. See Bonus Track in theaters on October 11 and watch the trailer below!
3.) The trailer for Hulu’s upcoming documentary Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara was released this week! The documentary tells the story of when Tegan, one half of queer pop duo Tegan and Sara, has her personal files hacked in 2011. The hacker then used her personal information to catfish a community as one half of the one of the most influential queer indie rock groups of a generation Catch Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara on Hulu on October 18!
4.) Netflix has rounded out the cast for the adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling novel People We Meet on Vacation, including queer actors Miles Heizer and Tommy Do, who join previously announced queer cast member Lukas Gage. The film will follow Poppy and Alex, unlikely best friends who live in different cities but spend every summer vacation together. However, their relationship takes a turn when they begin to wonder if their relationship is more than just a friendship. Amazon MGM Studios also announced that out actor Katy O’Brian will join the cast of Maintenance Required, alongside previously announced gay comedian and actor Matteo Lane. The film follows a group of women at an all-female mechanic shop, and O’Brian will feature as one of the mechanics.

5.) A24 has set an awards season release date for Queer, the upcoming feature from queer filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. Queer follows William, a middle-aged ex-pat, as he lives a quiet life in a small American community. However, things change when a young student, Eugene, moves to town, and forces William out of his solitary life. The film also features queer musician and actor Omar Apollo. Check out Queer in theaters on November 27!

6.) The long-awaited first trailer season two of Max’s The Last of Us was released this week, returning us to the post-apocalyptic world of the video game adaptation. The show stars non-binary actor Bella Ramsey as Ellie, a lesbian character who is immune to solving the outbreak of the deadly cordyceps zombie-esque virus. The second season introduces Dina, a new romantic interest for Ellie, as well as a bevy of other new characters. The Last of Us will premiere its second season in 2025.
7.) A trailer for the upcoming season of hit ABC comedy Abbott Elementary was released this week! The show follows an ensemble of chaotic characters at a Philadelphia school, including gay teacher Jacob Hill. The fourth season will see the teachers deal with class pets, a ringworm outbreak, and school dances! Be sure to tune into the new season of Abbott Elementary on ABC at 9:30pm on October 9!
8.) Out Dead to Me creator Liz Feldman’s upcoming Netflix dark comedy series No Good Deed has released a first look at the show! The ensemble cast features queer actors Matt Rogers, Kate Moenning, Abbi Jacobson, and Poppy Liu. No Good Deed follows three families all vying for the same 1920s Spanish style villa that they think will solve their problems, including Jacobson and Liu as a couple. But as the sellers have already discovered, sometimes the home of your dreams can turn into your worst nightmare. Stay tuned for more updates on No Good Deed, and stream it on Netflix in December!

9.) Overcompensating, a new show from out comedian Benito Skinner, has added a number of new cast members this week, including queer actors Tommy Do and Julia Shiplett. The show is written by, produced by, and stars Benito Skinner as a closeted former football player, who has to navigate the unfamiliar world of college alongside an ensemble of other characters. 10.) Lady Gaga announced a new album, Harlequin, this week as a companion to her upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux. The queer pop icon will co-star in the film as Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Lucky for the world, the album is already out, so stream Harlequin wherever you stream music now!

11.) In other music news, Katie Gavin, a member of queer band MUNA, released her solo single “Inconsolable” this week! Towa Bird also released a new song, “Rat Race,” today! Mediocre, a queer rock duo, released their anticipated debut album Growth Eater today. Trans non-binary artists Black Brunswicker released their new album Been Around Here Before today, and indie pop singer Lucy & La Mer released “Palm Springs” to celebrate the bi+ community. Queer singer-songwriter MARIS released her new single “Chameleon,” and queer indie pop/rock artist Allie released her new album Every Dog today. Queer Korean-American artist St. Lenox released a new single titled “Courtesan” this week, and Bryce Bowyn’s new song “Barbican” is also out now. Finally, queer artist Gregory Dillon released a new single today, titled “Burning Kisses.”
12.) Trans author Chase Joynt’s new book Vantage Points is out this week! The book uses a surprise relation to Canadian media mogul Marshall McLuhan as a way to analyze legacies of childhood sexual abuse and how to process those realities through a series of vignettes.
