The nominations for the 76th Emmy Awards were announced on July 17, from Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre. Emmy winners Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph made the announcement with Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.
Leading the pack was FX with two of the most nominated shows on the list. Shogun garnered 25 nominations while The Bear wasn’t too far behind with 23 noms including a nom for Ayo Edebiri who scored a win last year for the same role.
As for the other nominations, LGBTQ-fronted and queer-friendly shows earned noms — but mostly in the Limited Series category. Her Baby Reindeer co-stars Richard Gadd, Jessica Gunning, and Tom Goodman-Hill also nabbed acting noms.
In an interview with Deadline shortly after the announcement of her nomination, Mau admitted to crying for 45 minutes with “overwhelming joy.”
“For trans actors we just don’t get a lot of opportunities to develop our craft, grow as artists, and to be recognized for all that we are and all that we can be,” she said. “It has been a priceless experience being a part of this show. Every step of the way, I could feel the way the experience was transforming me, my life, and what feels possible. To be recognized by my peers in the Academy is a celebration of that transformation.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race once again slayed nomination day, earning 10 nominations including Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality Competition Program.

And condragulations to our fellow nominees for making this a great year for television.”
The Alan Cumming-hosted The Traitors and Top Chef, with new host Kristen Kish are giving Drag Race some competition. Both shows were nominated for Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality Competition Program.
“WOW… this is unreal and wonderfully surreal and I am so happy, excited and very proud of OUR collective show and everyone who works tirelessly to make Top Chef so successful! I’m celebrating all of us!” said Kish in a statement.
