1.) Queer director Erica Tremblay’s feature debut Fancy Dance hits select theaters today before steaming globally on Apple TV+ on June 28! The film centers on Jax (out actress Lily Gladstone) as she cares for her niece Roki (Isabel Deroy-Olson) following the disappearance of her sister from the Seneca-Cayuga reservation in Oklahoma. At risk of losing custody to Jax’s father, Roki and Jax embark on a search that brings them face-to-face with the complexities and contradictions of Indigenous women moving through a colonized world while at the mercy of a failed justice system. 2.) Netflix’s Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution is streaming now! The dynamic and heartfelt documentary explores the history of queer stand-up comedy, examining its importance as a powerful instrument for social change over the past five decades. Directed by acclaimed comic-turned-filmmaker Page Hurwitz, the doc combines interviews, memorable stand up performances, archival materials and vérité footage of LGBTQ comics including Lily Tomlin, Fortune Feimster, Margaret Cho, Bob The Drag Queen, Wanda Sykes, Hannah Gadsby, Rosie O’Donnel, Tig Notaro, and more. 3.) The vibrant documentary Hummingbirds debuts at New York City’s DCTV’s Firehouse Cinema today before its national broadcast premiere on PBS Television Channel on July 1! The film centers on the lived experience of its protagonist directors, Silvia Del Carmen Castaños and Estefanía “Beba” Conteras, who tell their own coming-of-age story in a punk-rock portrait of the last summer of their youth on the Texas-Mexico border. Offering an unexpected depiction of the US/Mexico border, this joyful and irreverent tale of friendship and resilience explores the crossroads of immigration, gender, sexuality, mental health, and class. Following it’s national premiere, Hummingbirds will be available to stream on pbs.org and the PBSApp until September 29; watch the trailer below!
4.) Elliot Page’s anticipated indie drama Close to You is coming to theaters nationwide on August 16! The film finds Sam (Page) apprehensively traveling home from Toronto for the first time since his transition for his father’s birthday. This homecoming and an unexpected chance encounter with an old flame (Hilary Baack) forces Sam to confront unresolved wounds. Check out a clip of Close to You below!

5.) The last trailer for Fly Me To The Moon has finally landed! The comedy-drama from gay director Greg Berlanti is set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven Kelly Jones (Scarlett Johansson) wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s (Channing Tatum) already difficult task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up. Out actor Jim Rash plays Lance Vespertine, the filmmaker shooting the fake footage. Watch the trailer below and catch Fly Me To The Moon in theaters July 12!
6.) Queer Bottoms breakout star Ruby Cruz is heading to Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls in the eagerly awaited third season! The series follows college suitemates at New England’s prestigious Essex College, including lesbian legacy student Leighton Murray, played by Reneé Rapp, who is in a handful of episodes in the upcoming season. Keep an eye out for Cruz’s character information!

7.) Trans comedian and drag king Murray Hill has announced an upcoming campy detective show called Shorty Big Time! Though plot details are not confirmed, Hill has shared a sample plotline: “Someone took somebody’s teeth at the nursing home, and they call me in. Or the gay rodeos in town, and the chaps are missing. Just fun and campy.” Stay tuned for more details!

8.) Queer multi-hyphenate dark-pop princess LEXXE released a new single “Disco Witch;” watch the music video below! Additionally, breakout artist Aliyah’s Interlude shared a summer self-love anthem “Love Me” and bisexual NY bedroom pop singer-songwriter ROREY dropped a new single “sleepwalking,” the second single from her upcoming sophomore EP, Dysphoria. Kansas City indie-rockers The Greeting Committee also released their highly anticipated new album Everyone’s Gone and I Know I’m the Cause!
9.) In more music news, Adam Lambert unleashed a fierce single “CVNTY;” pre-save his hedonistic new EP AFTERS, out July 19! The Irrepressibles, the creative guise of composer-songwriter-producer Jamie Irrepressible, also dropped a new single and video for “Be Wild!,” directed by drag performer Joseph Wilson. Watch the official video below! Finally, MarkJoseph released a queer summer anthem “Red Flag,” the last single ahead of his solo debut EP They All Fall Down, out in August.
10.) Netflix is hosting a screening of Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution on June 27 at the Egyptian Theater, featuring a pre-show with special stand up performances! The screening is part of the theater’s “Hollywood Pride: Queer Lives on the Silver Screen” series, which showcases films across nearly a century of Hollywood filmmaking, charting the progression of queer representation in movies from the censored and coded to the out, loud, and proud. In more event news, Queer|Art is hosting a 36-hour nonstop festival at Nowadays in New York City June 29 and 30, featuring DJ sets, artist vendors, family activities, and live sunrise performances.
