The Legacy of Cecilia Gentili: Artist, Mother, and Saint of Trans Liberation
Cecilia Gentili was a living legend and leaves us with no choice but to continue her legacy of love, community, and nurturing a drive to fight for the liberation of trans people, sex workers, immigrants, and marginalized people everywhere. Born in Argentina, Cecilia’s passing left the LGBT community in New York, and the world, in grief and disbelief.
Quechua Qariwarmi journalist and editor, Quispe López wrote a touching article honoring Cecilia in Them.us, click here to read and learn more about Cecilia’s monumental legacy.
Her “big footprint” of a life, as Díaz says, should serve as a reminder that activism isn’t about thinking, but as the very word implies, about doing. Everyone knew her political commitments, from sex work to trans liberation to Palestine; that went without saying.
To help cover Cecilia’s funeral expenses and continue her activism to decriminalize sex work, fight for trans liberation, and uplift immigrant communities, you can donate to Cecilia’s Legacy Fund via GoFundMe.

Contigo – Karol G, Tiësto
Colombian reggaeton and latin trap artist Karol G released a music video with lesbian rapper and singer-songwriter Young Miko. Karol G is a vocal ally and supporter of her large LGBTQ fanbase and is currently on her Mañana Será Bonito Latin America Tour. Young Miko is a trailblazer in the historically exclusive urbano genres of reggaetón and trap, “boasting about her love for women in risqué bangers” (Elle) with unapologetic authenticity. Check out the music video below.
The Past Is Still Alive – Hurray For The Riff Raff
Nuyorican Nonbinary Artist Hurray for The Riff Raff (Alynda Segarra) released their new album, The Past Is Still Alive, in February. The poetic auto-biographical album joins a movement of Americana musicians taking back space in a genre that Latines have always been a part of, but those contributions have remained largely invisible. Pitchfork describes it as “part folk-punk memoir, part spiritual invocation” where Segarra “revives the folky textures of previous records to grapple with American myths and tragedies.” Standout tracks include Alibi and Hawkmoon which honors a trans mentor, Miss Jonathan. Watch the Hawkmoon music video and stream The Past Is Still Alive!
Ride or Die – Sevdaliza, Villano Antillano, Tokischa
