Netflix’s newest mystery series is almost here and it is sure to be queer!
Based on the DC Comics series with the same name, Dead Boy Detectives follows Edwin and Charles, two teen ghosts and a clairvoyant named Crytsal, who work together to solve mysteries for the supernatural, until a powerful witch comes along to complicate their plans. Watch the trailer below for a sneak peek at what to expect:
“Allow me to welcome you to the Dead Boy Detective Agency,” the trailer opens. “We help ghosts resolve their mysteries.”
After meeting Crystal, the clairvoyant, the boys are shown with a client. “I would like to hire you, I heard you are. the best,” she says, causing Charles to smile.
“We help ghosts who’s cases would go unsolved. The cases no one else can,” the boys explain.
The trailer teases a wide variety of chaos for fans to get excited for ranging from vampires and demons, to revealing Edwin “spent a bunch of decades in hell,” to sweet and sentimental moments between the two friends. “You are my best mate, I wouldn’t want to be dead with anyone else,” Charles tells Edwin.
“Our deaths didn’t matter, no one ever solved them,” Edwin later explains. “I just want to help, it does matter,” Crystal corrects him.
Created by queer screenwriter Steve Yockey, the series features a diverse and inclusive cast including George Rexstrew, Kassius Nelson, Jayden Revri, Yuyu Kitamura, Briana Cuoco, and featuring out actor Lukas Gage, who is seen in the trailer sharing a romantic moment with Rextrew’s character.
