In the second season, Judy Fink and his team of amateur heist experts are back and in bigger trouble than ever Two years after successfully melting down the top secret sperm bank under the Space Needle, the CLITO collective (Community of Lesbians Inclusive To Others) is thriving on their newly acquired private island, Lesbos 2. All is well in their queer utopia. Or is it?
Alan Cumming joined GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos to talk about Hot White Heist and so much more!
Cumming describes the series as “really great combination of hilarious, really provocative, quite dirty, and also kind of tender as well.” He reveals it didn’t come as too much of a surprise that they were renewed for a second season because Adam Goldman, who wrote the series, is “so great and so talented.” Cumming knew he loved it from the start, he’s just glad the rest of the world could keep up.
He calls the series “Queer Greatest Hits” and “The Night of a Thousand Queers,” when talking about how much amazing LGBTQ representation is featured in the cast and the characters. He says that it is so great to be able to “call up friends and ask them to be in something and not feel like they’re doing you a favor. It’s actually because it’s a really good thing and they’ll have great fun doing it.”
Cumming, who is also the host of the hit Peacock series The Traitors, shares that he would love to have cast members Katya, Jane Lynch, and Sir Ian McKellen on the reality show. “It’s just crazy right now because they’re casting and everybody’s asking me how to be in it!”
With trans cast member Peppermint being sent home first in the second season of The Traitors, Cumming talks about his hopes for the upcoming season to feature more diverse representation. “We’ve got lots of diversity in other ways, but not in terms of queerness… it’s the queerest show. So, I mean, we should embrace it.”
Cumming teases that the second season of Hot White Heist will feature a podcast within the podcast. Following the major sperm bank heist in the first season, “A couple of years have gone by, but people are beginning to wonder how this happened and some people have been sniffing around. So, that’s what this podcast is. An investigative podcast is doing a podcast on them and [them figuring out] how they can keep that out of the public eye and how they can retain the island.” You’ll have to tune in to find out what happens next!
Hot White Heist returns for a second season on Audible on March 7th. Catch up on the first season here.
