Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.
1.) Focus Features unveiled the second trailer for lesbian road trip comedy Drive-Away Dolls, featuring out stars Beanie Feldstein and Colman Domingo! The highly-anticipated film follows Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian, who desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way. Watch the new trailer below and catch Drive-Away Dolls in theaters February 23.
2.) A24 has debuted another blood-soaked trailer for romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding. The flick tells the erotic revenge story of reclusive gym manager, Lou (bisexual icon Kristen Stewart), who falls hard for Jackie (lesbian actress Katy O’Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder. When their love ignites violence, they’re pulled deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family. Find the trailer below and watch Love Lies Bleeding in select theaters March 8 before it goes wide March 15!
3.) Multi-hyphenate Hunter Schafer has officially entered her horror-era! This week, NEON dropped a teaser for freaky flick Cuckoo. Schafer stars as 17-year-old Gretchen, who leaves her American home to live with her father and his new family in the German Alps. Something doesn’t feel right about this tranquil vacation paradise as Gretchen becomes plagued by strange noises and bloody visions. Soon, she discovers a shocking secret that concerns the whole family. To top it off, Schafer has been set to star in upcoming psychological thriller Palette, where she plays Dolly, a woman suffering from extreme synesthesia, a rare condition through which she is able to hear colors. Recruited into a secretive, cult-like industry of color design, Dolly discovers the dark reality of what it takes to make the world’s greatest hues. Sales on the package begin at The European Film Market at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), which Schafer will be attending for the Special Gala premiere of Cuckoo! 4.) Apple has scored the worldwide rights to Fancy Dance, the 2023 Sundance Film Festival title that stars out actress Lily Gladstone, who recently landed an Oscar nom for her role in Apple’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Queer director Erica Tremblay’s feature debut, which she also co-wrote and produced, centers on Jax (Gladstone) as she cares for her niece Roki following the disappearance of her sister. At the risk of losing custody to Jax’s father, Jax and Roki hit the road and scour the backcountry to track down Roki’s mother in time for the powwow that Roki has been preparing for. Apple will release Fancy Dance in theaters and on streaming later this year!

5.) Queer Deadpool star Brianna Hildebrand is set to lead XYZ Films’ under-the-radar sci-fi action pic Osiris. In the film, a team of Special Forces commandos are abducted by a mysterious spacecraft and quickly discover they are being hunted by a merciless alien race. Check out a first-look image below!

6.) Netflix welcomes fans back to Hillerska in the Young Royals season three trailer! In the final chapter, Wilhelm’s speech has consequences not only in the court but also throughout the school. The Prince and Simon are determined to be together, but what are they willing to sacrifice when realizing that their freedom and love might be at odds with the Royal ideals, traditions, and responsibilities? Find out on March 11 with the first half of the season and watch the trailer below!
7.) Gay Legendary judge Law Roach is set to co-host Julia Fox’s upcoming design competition OMG Fashun. With a focus on sustainability, upcycling and creative craftsmanship, three fashion “disruptors” will create a new look in the hopes of winning a $10,000 cash prize. Watch the premiere May 6 on E! and take a first-look below! In other reality TV news, Emmy-winning series The Traitors is coming back for a third season at Peacock! Hosted by bisexual actor Alan Cumming, the series features contestants competing for a grand prize of $250,000. Catch up on the latest episodes of season two, still dropping weekly on Thursdays.
8.) Netflix has cast some queer comedy gold this week! Lesbian Dead to Me creator Liz Feldman’s upcoming Netflix dark comedy series No Good Deed has added out actors Matt Rogers and Kate Moenning to its ensemble. The pair join a star-studded cast with previously announced LGBTQ stars Abbi Jacobson and Poppy Liu. No Good Deed follows three families all vying for the same 1920s Spanish style villa that they think will solve their problems. But as the sellers have already discovered, sometimes the home of your dreams can turn into your worst nightmare. In more news, bisexual The Other Two star Drew Tarver has joined Mindy Kaling’s untitled basketball series. In the ten-part comedy, Tarver plays Sandy Gordon, one of the lead characters who is hopelessly unathletic and thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. Additionally, bisexual actress Stephanie Beatriz has been tapped for the upcoming comedy series A Classic Spy. Based on the 2021 Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent, the series follows Charles, a retired man who gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad from a PI and becomes a mole in a secret investigation. Beatriz will play Didi, the all-seeing, all-knowing managing director of the Pacific View Retirement Residence in San Francisco.

9.) Queer singer-songwriter and pop auteur Angélica Garcia recently shared her cumbia-inspired song “Juanita,” alongside a black and white video that explores spirituality, Latin heritage, and liberation from restrictive gender roles. In other music news, trans pop star Kim Petras has announced her latest album titled Slut Pop Miami. The follow-up to Slut Pop EP will arrive on Valentine’s Day; pre-save now and check out the trailer! Bisexual artist Madison Beer released her first single since the release of her sophmore LP. The pop track “Make You Mine” comes with a lyric visualizer! Queer main pop boy Bentely Robles has dropped his latest single “We Should,” off the forthcoming deluxe of his EP Ugly Crier. Last but certainly not least, gay and non-binary artist VINCINT has announced an upcoming project Good II Me, out February 16.

10.) The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics have announced the nominees of the 15th Dorian Film Awards, led by Searchlight’s gay romantic fantasy All of Us Strangers with nine nods. The film will go head-to-head with Bottoms, Passages, Rustin and Saltburn for LGBTQ Film of the Year. In addition to offbeat categories like Camp Flick and Unsung Film of the Year, GALECA will debut three new ones in 2024: LGBTQ Screenplay of the Year, LGBTQ Non-Engoish Language Film of the Year, and Genre Film of the Year.
