The Critics Choice Association (CCA) revealed the nominees in the TV category for the 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards. The winners will be announced at the Critics Choice Awards gala hosted by Chelsea Handler, which will broadcast live on The CW on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
Among the nominations, The Morning Show leads with six while Succession nabbed behind with five. Showtime’s adaption of Thomas Mallon’s novel of the same name Fellow Travelers earned a nomination for Best Limited Series while stars Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey scored acting nominations for the sprawling queer romantic drama spanning the Lavender Scare, Vietnam, the disco era and the AIDS crisis.
FX indigenous comedy Reservation Dogs from Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi. In addition to being nominated for Best Comedy, Actress Devery Jacobs (who slays in the TIFF film Backspot) earned a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy series while co-stars D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Paulina Alexis received nods as well.
Bella Ramsey continues to receive recognition for her role in The Last of Us as she received an acting nom with her partner in crime Pedro Pascal. The HBO drama was also nominated for Best Drama Series.
Celebrated vampire comedy What We Do In The Shadows was also a three-time nominee including Best Comedy as well as acting nods for Kayvan Novak and Harvey Guillén — who was also nominated in 2021.
Bottoms actress Ayo Edebiri earned a Best Actress nod for her role in The Bear which also received recognition for Comedy Series as well as acting nods for Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
In the Best Comedy Special category, Wanda Sykes earned a nomination for I’m An Entertainer while John Early received one for his HBO special Now More Than Ever.
Other noteworthy queer or queer-friendly TV nominees at this years CCA include Drew Tarver for The Other Two; The Graham Norton Show for Best Talk Show as well as lauded TV series Abbott Elementary, Beef, and Loki.
