Tired of listening to the same old playlist? Today is your lucky day. This Friday the 13th is jam packed with highly anticipated musical releases from iconic queer artists like Boygenius, Troye Sivan, Billy Porter, Johnny Manuel, and Trophy Wives. Additionally, Bob the Drag Queen released a brand new comedy album!
Boygenius fans were thrilled to find out the supergroup consisting of musicians Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker would be releasing a brand new EP just a few months after their critically acclaimed album The Record’s debut. The Rest is a four song project just as heart-breaking and beautifully melodic as the last.
It’s hard to believe the band had time to write and produce songs like “Voyager,” “Black Hole,” “Afraid of Heights,” and “Powers” this year while touring the globe, headlining at sold out shows and festivals all over the world. Stream The Rest to hear more from these lyrical (boy)geniuses!
Something to Give Each Other is Troye Sivan’s new album that has been described as “a celebration of sex, dance, sweat, community, queerness, love and friendship.” With singles “Rush” and “Got Me Started” going viral on Tik Tok upon their release, fans new and old waited excitedly for the full album to debut, and it’s finally here.
Sivan, who is also an actor, has come a long way from his career as a YouTuber in the 2010s. He appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon as well as Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this past week to discuss the new album.
Sivan also released a music video for “One of Your Girls” today. Watch below:
The wait isn’t over quite yet for LGBTQ icon Billy Porter’s upcoming album Black Mona Lisa, which comes out on November 17th. However, Porter just dropped a new single called “Children (What Time It Is)” featuring Black Acid Soul phenom Lady Blackbird.
“What I love about Lady Blackbird, is that she sounds so good, like a modern-day, blonde Grace Jones,” Porter said. “Her music is aggressive. Her music has message and passion and it’s about something. Like me. We fit perfectly together.”
He went on to say that, “This is the perfect time to release a new version of ‘Children. Folks are trying to come for us LGBTQ people and we have news for them, ‘Don’t come for us unless we send for you.’ The time is now!”

Johnny Manuel is back with his second EP titled Blue! This R&B record includes hits like “Molotov” and “End of the Night.”
On his new song “What Am I,” Manuel says “Writing songs and shaping a project is an ever-evolving process for me and for my first solo ballad, I hadn’t yet discovered the exact sound I was looking for until T. Priestly, in all his brilliance, captured it. The production was exactly what I was in search of; haunting piano-led minimalism with an edge that allowed me to sing from a more raw and vulnerable place.”

Get ready to meet your new favorite musical duo! Trophy Wives, two queer best friends named Rock and Luca, have just released their debut single titled “Cowboy Mama!”
Queer country fans are thrilled to have more representation the genre. When talking about their inspiration behind the song, Rock said that “‘Cowboy Mama’ was inspired by all the women who are intensely perplexed and almost impossible to woo but just wont leave your mind. The ones who will not allow their tough outer shells to be cracked which unfortunately makes chasing them that much more addicting. The women who hook you just to leave you desiring more… ‘barely out of reach’. We shared a similar experience of falling deeply into the thick of unrequited love and wanted to write about it.”
The song was produced by by Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds & Wayne Sermon. See the Trophy Wives live October 19th at The Resident in Los Angeles with Caroline Kingsbury.

The Peabody and GLAAD Media Award winning artist said that “I love that comedians are now making our own specials. The most important factor in a comedy special is. . . IS IT FUNNY?!?!?! and the answer is. . . I’m hilarious.”
