Today has been a huge day in the queer music world, with Kim Petras performing on TODAY and debuting her first album, Cher releasing a pride remix of one of her most iconic hits, Big Freedia dropping a star-studded new album, new music from Wrabel, and WHAM! announcing a 40th anniversary album and upcoming documentary!
Grammy Award winning and GLAAD Media Award nominated pop artist Kim Petras has finally released her long-awaited debut album “Feed the Beast.” The 15-track album has been described as pure pop perfection. Feed The Beast dives into Petras’ personal life and is “a declaration about being willing to be consumed by her biggest passion.”
The conceptual album is a spin on the classic Greek tale “Andromeda,” where a princess is almost sacrificed to a beast. However, unlike the story, in Kim’s version, she rescues herself instead. The album includes collaborations with some of today’s hottest artists like Nicki Minaj and BANKS.
Petras performed songs from the new album this morning live on NBC’s TODAY.
Petras recently made history as the first openly transgender person to win a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, for her and Sam Smith’s song “Unholy.”

The Queen Diva of Bounce aka Big Freedia has made her triumphant return to music following a 9-year hiatus since her last album. “Central City” is a collection of songs, honoring Big Freedia’s commitment to her roots, her city, New Orleans, and the transformative power of music. “It proudly embraces the intersections of Pride and Black Music Month, solidifying its status as an essential work that celebrates and uplifts diverse communities.”
The album features collaborations with an iconic lineup of guest artists, including Lil Wayne, Faith Evans, Ciara, Kelly Price, Boyfriend, Kamaiyah, Sonyae, and The Soul Rebels.
“This album is like walking through the streets of New Orleans,” says Freedia, reminiscing on the people and places that make the city magical. “From Josephine to Melpomene, to Calliope and Magnolia. To Second and D to Third and G, Central City is all the places in between. This is the sound of Uptown New Orleans. It’s the people, the food, the culture, and the music. It’s a mixture of Black history, with a little bit of French, and that voodoo that creates a unique gumbo. And everybody wants a taste.”
