The Sundance Film Festival was in full swing over the weekend and GLAAD had boots on the ground in Park City — and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Meredith Marks opened the doors on January 21st to her boutique in the Main Street epicenter of Sundance to GLAAD to celebrate our work! Marks, her husband Seth Marks, GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos, Alex Schmider, and Scott Turner Schofield were joined by Fire Island star and “Las Culturistas” icon Matt Rogers, actor, host and “King of Gay Christmas” Jonathan Bennett, Jaymes Vaughan from The Real Friends of WeHo, writer/director Ally Pankiw, producer Samantha Curley, and journalists Tre’vell Anderson, Zach Stafford, and Fran Tirado, among others.
Both Fire Island and Rogers’ podcast “Las Culturistas” hosted with co-star Bowen Yang are nominees at The 34th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
Jonathan Bennett and husband Jaymes Vaughn are both nominees at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards, receiving nominations for the Hallmark film The Holiday Sitter, ABC’s PRIDE | To Be Seen special, and the marrried couple’s podcast “PrideCast.”
Marks has continuously been an ally and has supported the LGBTQ community as well as GLAAD. She has served on the Host Committee for the GLAAD Media Awards and has raised funds for the organization through an array of fundraisers and special collaborations of her collection.
Last year, the longtime ally curated a photoshoot to spotlight and support GLAAD’s mission to accelerate acceptance for the LGBTQ community. The campaign featured members of the LGBTQ community and allies including fashion designer August Getty, Miss Utah Rachel Slawson, influencer Joey Zauzig, artist Nikki Exotika, performer CT Hedden, Jheda, and GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos. Marks also created a limited edition t-shirt that reads: “I’m Engaging with LGBTQ Rights.” All proceeds from the shirt were donated to GLAAD.
