The show is set twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed, and Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival. The series includes queer characters from the beloved video game franchise, including lead Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and couple Frank (out Emmy Award-winning actor Murray Bartlett) and Bill (Nick Offerman). The Last of Us, Sundays on HBO Max.
2.) The Critics Choice Awards Ceremony airs tonight on The CW! Queer inclusive shows and movies this year include Babylon, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Tar, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Bros, and Wendell & Wild. Queer actors received a number of looks as well, including Murray Bartlett, Niecy Nash, Brandon Scott Jones, Devery Jacobs, and the late Leslie Jordan. Out actor/musician Janelle Monae will receive this years Critics Choice Association’s SeeHer Award, which honors a woman (Monae identifies as non-binary but is accepting the award) who advocates for gender equality, portrays characters with authenticity, defies stereotypes and pushes boundaries!
