1.) Netflix’s Hitchcock-ian dark comedy Do Revenge premieres on the streamer today! After a clandestine run-in, queer transfer student Eleanor (Maya Hawke) teams up with fallen it-girl Drea (Camila Mendes) to take vengeance on each other’s tormenators. Watch the trailer below!
2.) Disney has revealed their upcoming animated feature Wish, which explores how the iconic ‘Wishing Star’ came to be. The film stars out Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose as Asha, a 17-year-old heroine who sees darkness that others do not in the Kingdom of Wishes, where wishes can literally come true. When Asha makes a plea to the stars, she ends up bringing an actual star down from the sky. Check out the first-look image below! Additionally, out Academy Award winning director and actor Jim Rash has joined the 1960’s space race pic Project Artemis, by out filmmaker Greg Berlanti. Though plot details of the Apple Original are under wraps, sources speculate that Rash plays Lance, a flamboyant director who is incredibly opinionated and perpetually un-hirable.

3.) Jason Moore has been set to develop and direct an adaptation of out author Steven Rowley’s acclaimed bestseller, The Guncle, for Lionsgate. The film follows a reclusive, once-famous gay television star who takes his neice and nephew into his home in Palm Springs after their mother passes away suddenly. Additionally, Sanaa Lathan’s musical drama On the Come Up has been set for a limited theatrical release in sync with its Paramount+ streaming release on September 23. Based on the novel by bestselling author Angie Thomas, the film follows Bri (Jamila C. Gray), a 16-year-old who wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time in order to lift up her family and do right by her father, a local hip hop legend plagued by gang violence. On the Come Up also stars queer actor Miles Gutierrez-Riley as Sonny. In other news, HBO has announced an October 18 premiere date for the documentary Mama’s Boy, chronicling the life of out Oscar-winning Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black. Based on his 2019 memoir, the film follows Black as he returns to the South to reconnect with his conservative Mormon family, featuring interviews from his extended family, husband, out Olympic gold medalist Tom Daley, and more! Newsfest has also set Mama’s Boy as their opening-night film for the New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival on October 13.
4.) Non-binary House of The Dragon star Emma D’Arcy has joined the cast of feature thriller Anna, formerly known as Mother Russia. The film tells the story of journalist and human rights activist Anna Politkovskaya (Maxine Peake), who exposes Russian state corruption under Vladimir Putin during the war in Chechnya. Facing immense backlash in the form of intimidation and violence, Anna is ultimately murdered by an unknown contract killer. D’Arcy plays Vera Politkovskaya, Anna’s daughter. In more casting news, out actress Beanie Feldstein has joined Ethan Coen’s untitled film at Working Title and Focus Features. Additionally, queer actress and model Kaylee Bryant has been set to lead the supernatural horror Spin the Bottle. The film centers on a group of teenagers in Texas who unleash a deadly force while playing the famed party game in an abandoned house. Queer writer-director Fawzia Mirza has also set the cast of her feature directorial debut Me, My Mom & Shamila. Adapted from Mirza’s stage play, the film is set in 1999 and follows Azra (Amrit Kaur) as she travels from Canada to her parents’ homeland of Pakistan to bury her father.

5.) HBO Max has released first-look photos of The Sex Lives of College Girls season two. The series follows the lives and affairs of four college roommates, including legacy student Leighton (queer actress Reneé Rapp), attending New England’s prestigious Essex College. The new season continues to follow Leighton’s coming out journey while she gains confidence alongside her unlikely group of friends. Watch the first season available on HBO Max before the November release of season two. In more HBO Max news, the streamer has renewed Issa Rae’s comedy series Rap Sh!t for a second season. The series follows two estranged high school friends who form a rap group. Out actor Jaboukie Young-White plays a music producer and former schoolmate of lead character Shawna.

6.) ABC has dropped a new teaser trailer for the Emmy-winning workplace comedy Abbott Elementary, ahead of its September 21 premiere. The upcoming season shows more of the dedicated and passionate teachers’ backstories by following them home. Chris Perfetti is set to reprise his role as Jacob Hill, the awkward gay history teacher who supports protagonist Janine Teagues’s (Quinta Brunson) mission to help the lives of their students. Watch the teaser below! In more TV news, NBC has announced a coming-of-age comedy inspired by out Vito Russo Award recipient Andy Cohen’s bestselling book Most Talkative. Directed and executive produced by out Emmy winner Todd Holland, the film follows 13-year-old Cohen growing up in 1980s St Louis. Cohen discovers how to break free of the mold and build his own box as a gay, cardinals and drama-loving teen.
7.) USA Network and SYFY have released the official trailer for GLAAD Media Award-nominated horror drama Chucky. The series, executive produced by out creator of the Child’s Play franchise Don Mancini, continues to follow the exploits of the infamous Chucky doll. After Chucky’s failed attempt to invade American’s children’s hospitals in season one, Chucky seeks revenge on those he holds responsible: queer teen Jake, his boyfriend Devon, and his friend Lexy. Meanwhile, can ‘Jevon’ make it as a couple in the face of adversity at their new catholic school? Watch season two of Chucky October 5 and check out the trailer below!
8.) Disney+ has announced an exclusive livestream of Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium on November 20, the final American stop on the out icons’ “Farwell Yellow Brick Road Tour”. The livestream is part of a feature documentary Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which is composed of unseen concert footage, journals, and present-day content of John and his family. In other Disney+ news, the streamer has announced a new unscripted holiday special Best in Snow, hosted by out Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Tituss Burgess.

9.) Shudder and AMC+ have announced an October 25 release date for The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula spinoff The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans. The ten-episode series features drag icons from the show’s previous seasons, who compete in a grand championship of drag artistry and physical challenges for a $100,000 grand prize and the first ever Dragula Titans crown and title. In other TV news, out actor Stephen Fry has joined season three of The Morning Show, alongside previously announced out star Tig Notaro. Fry plays Leonard Cromwell, a ruthless UBA board member who is working to steer the company through troubled financial times. Additionally, NBC has added non-binary A League of Their Own star Molly Kearney to the Saturday Night Live season fourty-eight cast, set to premiere October 1 on NBC and streaming live on Peacock!

10.) Queer singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama has released her new album Hold The Girl. Listen to the album here and watch the official audio video of the track “Hurricanes” here! In more music news, out pop trailblazer Lil Nas X has created a new song titled “STAR WALKIN”, out September 23, for the game Legaue of Legends Worlds 2022 tournament. The GLAAD Media Award-winning artist will also be performing a live set at the League of Legends Worlds Finals, which takes place at San Francisco’s Chase Center November 5. Additonally, Australian non-binary musician G Flip has released the new single “Waste of Space”, featuring the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles— the first all trans-identified chrous in America— consisting of transgender, non-binary, intersex, gender non-conforming and gender-fluid individuals. Out scholar of American and German LGBTQ history Dr. Jake Newsome has released the novel Pink Triangle Legacies: Coming Out in the Shadow of the Holocaust, which traces the transformation of the pink triangle from a Nazi concentration camp badge and emblem of discrimination to a widespread symbol of queer liberation, pride and community.
