The 94th annual Academy Awards are airing tonight on ABC. LGBTQ nominees include GLAAD Media Awards nominated films West Side Story (Best Picture), FLEE (Best Documentary, Best Animated Feature, Best International Feature Film) and The Mitchells Vs. The Machines (Best Animated Feature), out actress Kristen Stewart for her role as Princess Diana in Spencer (Actress in a Leading Role), and out actress Ariana DeBose for her role as Anita in West Side Story (Actress in a Supporting Role). Original streaming movie Better Nate Than Ever will drop this Friday on Disney+. Directed by out author Tim Federle and based on his novel of the same name, the film is inspired by his own experience growing up gay. Thirteen-year-old Nate has big Broadway dreams. But when he isn’t cast in the school play, he and his best friend Libby sneak off to the Big Apple, where he’s unexpectedly reunited with his long-lost aunt Heidi. Together they must prove that life’s greatest adventures are only as big as your dreams. Better Nate Than Ever: Friday, on Disney+.
