It’s officially #BiWeek! Which means it’s time to celebrate the bisexual+ community in all its vibrancy and joy. One of the ways to do this is to watch some content with exceptional bi+ characters, living their life to the fullest. Check out these bi-inclusive shows below and let us know what shows you’ll be watching this #BiWeek!
Are You the One? Season Eight
Not enough can be said about this game-changing season of reality television. With this season, MTV took all bisexual+ and sexually fluid contestants and had them participate in the show’s game to find their perfect match, with any cast member being able to be a match with any other. Not only was this an extremely dramatic and exciting season of reality television, but it opened the door for conversations about queer, bi+, trans, and non-binary identities – and for people of those identities to share their experiences in their own words. It was truly a season for the books. Watch now on MTV.com with a cable login, or purchase episodes on Amazon Prime.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
This superhero time traveling series follows a group of heroes lead by Sara Lance aka White Canary (Caity Lotz) who spent the first few seasons romancing men and women across space and time. In more recent seasons, she developed a relationship with Agent Ava Sharpe (Jess Macallan), with the two of them getting married in the season six finale. The show also includes bisexual characters John Constantine (Matt Ryan) and Gary Green (Adam Tsekhman). The first five seasons of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow are streaming on Netflix, and the most recent episodes are available on The CW app.
Dickinson
This historical dramedy following everyone’s favorite bisexual poet Emily Dickinson has been renowned by critics and fans alike. The show takes place in the 1800s, but contains a modern sensibility, especially when exploring Emily’s (Hailee Steinfeld) different romances with others of all genders including her brother’s wife Sue (out actor Ella Hunt). The show explores the nuances of being a young queer woman, an artist, and the struggles and joys Emily faces. Watch season one and two now on Apple TV+.
Good Trouble
Freeform’s spinoff from The Fosters follows a group of young people living in Los Angeles trying to find their places in life, work, and love. One of the main characters is Gael (Tommy Martinez), a bisexual artist who is often caught between his family and his passions. The show also stars out bi actress Zuri Adele as activist Malika, who has recently started developing feelings for another woman, and bi actress Sherry Cola who plays lesbian comedian Alice. The first three seasons of Good Trouble are available to stream on Hulu.
Hacks
HBO Max’s critically acclaimed comedy Hacks explores the relationship between Vegas comedy legend Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her new writer, 25-year-old Ava Daniels (out bi actress Hannah Einbinder). Ava is open about her bisexuality, and over the first season is shown in relationships with both men and women. Her character is given the freedom to be a young queer person in her 20s who doesn’t quite know what she’s doing, but is working to find her place and found family. The first season of Hacks is now streaming on HBO Max.
Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn, the title role of this animated series, has been a figure in pop culture for decades and has been written as bisexual in the comic books for years now, showing her relationship with Poison Ivy. The Harley Quinn series amps this up to another level, showing the evolution of Harley distancing herself from her previous toxic relationship with the Joker and focusing on the friendship-turned-something-more with Ivy. All while cracking jokes and doing crime. The first two seasons of Harley Quinn are now streaming on HBO Max.
iCarly (2021)
iCarly has joined the ranks of shows getting a reboot continuation. One of the best parts about the updated version of the show is the addition of Harper (Laci Mosely), Carly’s bi roommate who is an aspiring fashion designer. Harper is a fun and welcome addition to the gang. The end of season one builds to a relationship between her and a client, Dutch (queer actor Poppy Liu, also on Hacks). The first season of iCarly is now streaming on Paramount+.
The Owl House
The Owl House made history last year when lead character Luz (Sarah Nicole Robles) became the first bisexual lead on a Disney Channel show. The show centers on Luz’s adventures becoming a witch and being an apprentice at the Owl House. Midway through the series, Luz begins to have a crush on a classmate Amity (pansexual actor Mae Whitman), and the two’s relationship evolves to the point where they are now officially dating. The first two seasons of The Owl House are available to stream on Disney+.
