The 25th Annual Critics Choice Awards will air Sunday on The CW. LGBTQ talent nominated include Billy Porter, Mj Rodriguez, Asia Kate Dillon, Daniel Levy, Nico Santos, and Russel Tovey. LGBTQ-inclusive nominees across film include Bombshell, Judy, Rocketman, Booksmart, Pain and Glory, Portrait of a Lady on Firel; television series David Makes Man, The Good Fight, Pose, This is Us, Watchmen, One Day at a Time, Schitt’s Creek, When They See Us, Years and Years, Deadwood: The Movie, BoJack Horseman, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power; and Wanda Sykes’ comedy special Not Normal. 25th Annual Critics Choice Awards: Sunday, 8pm on the CW.
New dark comedy series Everything’s Gonna Be Okay premieres Thursday on Freeform. Created and starring out actor Josh Thomas, the show follows Nicholas (Thomas) as a gay man who ends up becoming the guardian of his two half-sisters. The show also stars Adam Faison as Nicholas’ love interest. Everything’s Gonna Be Okay: Thursday, 8:30pm on Freeform.
The second season of Netflix’s GLAAD Media Award-nominated comedy Sex Education will be released on Friday. The British comedy continues to follow a group of high school students and their personal and sexual feelings, including gay character Eric. The second season will introduce a new love interest for him, while also unpacking his complicated relationship with Adam. Sex Education: Friday on Netflix.
Anthology series Little America, which follows different immigrants’ stories, will premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday. Episode “The Son,” written by out writers Stephen Dunn and Amrou Al-Kahdi, follows Radiq, who escapes from his home in Syria after his father discovers he is gay, and is forced to go on the run until he finds his “home” in the unlikeliest of places.
