One of the best things about working at GLAAD is getting to celebrate the smart, funny, moving AND LGBTQ-inclusive stories we are seeing—in English and en Español. Over the years, I have seen LGBTQ representation slowly increase—and sometimes, unfortunately, decrease again the next year. We have a lot more to do, and the work goes on!

Today we celebrate the steps forward, like the existence of a scripted show or novela from Mexico centered around two young men in love: El Corazón Nunca Se Equivoca which won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Scripted Television Series at the GLAAD Media Awards July 30.

In El Paso, a year ago, 23 people were killed in a mass shooting—and the victims were targeted because they were Latinx. It is described as the deadliest attack on Latinx people in modern American history. GLAAD stands beside organizations like Voto Latino every day in working to empower Latinx folks. Today, we join togoether to remember those murdered in El Paso and to honor the strength and resilience of El Paso.
