What motivates us is simple: The discrimination against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is real. Maybe it's about being afraid to put a picture of a partner on your desk, maybe it's about getting fired from a job, maybe it's about losing custody of your kids, maybe it's about not having your commitment ceremony recognized in your hometown newspaper, maybe it's about being beaten up in your own neighborhood.

We work to do what we can to ensure that one day these stories are a thing of the past. GLAAD's work is so important; changing the images of gay men and lesbians in the media is the most proactive thing we can do to affect a substantive change in opinions and attitudes.
